State-of-the-Art Urology in Denver
The Urology Center of Colorado is the only comprehensive urology center in the
Rocky Mountain region, providing treatment for all urologic conditions at one
location. TUCC includes:

Radiology, laboratory and pathology services

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for taking CT exams utilizing
MDCT machines to process computer enhanced radiographic imaging exams
and related duties. Responsible for taking all radiographic and fluoroscopic
exams utilizing the CR and DR GE machine. Starts IVs and draws labs to screen
for contrast safety. Preps all charts for the PACS system utilizing the EMR
available.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.Prepares patients for radiologic procedures utilizing MDCT machines. Takes
radiographic exams following established procedures for patient care and safety.
2. Collaborate and plans with Radiologist, referring physicians for the selection
of procedural protocols. Performs all standard radiographic and fluoroscopic
exams as ordered by the Urologist, PA-C, NP and Radiologist.
2. Uses a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials.
3. Prepares contrast media. Performs intravenous contrast injections including
the use of automatic injectors.
4. Ensures equipment is in working order. Reports equipment malfunctions to
supervisor.
5. Logs radiologic procedures completed. Processes related paperwork using
computer equipment as directed.
6. Maintains examination rooms. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic
supplies.
7. Develops and processes radiologic exams utilizing PACS and EMR for
Radiologist interpretation.
8. Document and communicate patient related information thoroughly and
accurately.
9. Accurately bills for exams
The job holder must demonstrate current competencies for job position.
EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited x-ray technologists program.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years doing MDCT imaging and five years
customer service experience in outpatient health care setting.
REQUIREMENTS: Current CPR certification. Current American Registry of
Radiologic Technologist registration and CT certification.
KNOWLEDGE:
1. Knowledge of x-ray procedures and protocols.
2. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform radiologic exams
utilizing MDCT protocols for urologic studies, including body mechanics and
patient movement.
3. Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to
radiology.
4. Knowledge of IV contrast screening procedures in order to obtain informed
consents and pertinent clinical history.
SKILLS:
1. Skill in positioning patients properly.
2. Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying
supervisor.
3. Skill in applying the appropriate amount of reasoning, deduction and
judgment in delivering quality patient care.
4. Skill in utilizing information systems to process CT exams for 3D reformation.
ABILITIES:
1. Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices.
2. Ability to communicate clearly.
3. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, patients and
families.
4. Able to plan and effectively organize work and establish priorities.
