He earned his Masters of Science in Engineering degree from the University of New Brunswick (UNB). From 1983 to 1995, he was on the faculty in UNB's department of Electrical Engineering and worked as a research associate in the Institute of Biomedical Engineering. His research interests included application of digital and microcomputer technology to the study of electrophysiological properties of skeletal muscles and the control of artificial limbs. In 1995, he entered McMaster University Medical School. Following graduation in 1998, he completed Internal Medicine residency at McMaster, and Cardiology residency at the University of Alberta. He then completed a fellowship in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology and Advanced Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Bringham and Woman's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. In the summer of 2006, Dr. Hruczkowski joined the Electrophysiology group at the University of Alberta Hospital and the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute. He holds the position of Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry and is the Clinical Director of the Electrocardiography laboratory. His clinical and research interests include management and ablation of atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia, syncope, as well as implantation and management of heart rhythm devices.
