Least Common Multiple and Least Common Denominator
A Multiple is the product of a given number and a whole number.
There are an infinite number of multiples for any given number.
Example: The multiples of 4 are: 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36, 40 etc.
The multiples of 5 are: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 etc.
Common multiples are multiples that two given numbers share
The common multiples of 4 and 5 are: 20, and 40
The Least Common Multiple (LCM) is the smallest of the common
multiples
The LCM of 4 and 5 is 20
When finding common denominators for two fractions use the LCM
The common denominator of 3 and 2 is 20

Therefore the equivalent fractions are: 3 = 15
4 20
and
2=8
5 20
