• Includes both biotic
and abiotic factors

• All strategies and adaptations a species uses in its
environment including:
• Type of food an organism eats
• How it obtains food and shelter
• When and how a species reproduces and survives
•**No two species can share the same niche in the
same habitat.**

•Predators•Organisms that seek out and eat other
organisms.
•Prey
•Organisms that are eaten.
•Symbiosis•Any relationship in which two species live
closely together.
Symbiosis Type: Mutualism
•Description• both species benefit
from a relationship
•Example:
• flowers and insects
• rhino and a tick bird
Symbiosis Type: Commensalism
•Description:
• One organism
benefits and the
other is neither
helped nor harmed.
•Examples:
• Trees and moss
• Whales and barnacles
Symbiosis Type: Parasitism
•Description:
• One organism lives on
or in an organism and
harms it.
•Example:
• Dogs and ticks
• Human and mosquito
