This chapter is about how we learn through our environment. The behavioral approach focuses
the influence of the environment on behavior. We will focus on two major types of learning,
classical conditioning and operant conditioning.
Classical Conditioning:

The chapter discusses two famous examples of classical conditioning: Ivan Pavlov’s
conditioning of dogs and John B. Watson’s conditioning of “Little Albert”. In the space below,
describe an original example from your own life of classical conditioning. In addition to the
explanation of how your example is classical conditioning, you need to complete the following
diagram for your example: (Remember that classical conditioning must involve a
PHYSIOLOGICAL response.)

According to the textbook book, there are two different types of reinforcement, positive
and negative. In the space below, describe one example of positive reinforcement and one
example of negative reinforcement. Explain why each is either positive reinforcement or
negative reinforcement. Both examples should be original and come from your own experience.

The book also discusses punishment. In the space below, describe one original example
of punishment from your own experience. We will use these examples in class.
