Grammar
What is it?
• An action verb is a word that expresses action. It tells
what the subject does or did.
• A direct object is a noun or pronoun that receives the
action of the verb. It answers the questions what? or
whom? after the verb.
• An indirect object is a noun or pronoun in the predicate
that answer to whom? or for whom? or to what? After an
action verb. An indirect always comes before the direct
object.
Action Verbs Practice…
• Underline the action verbs in each sentence

2. His grandfather showed him the beautiful rose
bushes.
