Glucosamine Sulfate DESCRIPTION: Natural shellfish extract which supports the health of joints and other connective tissues.* FORMULA: Each tablet contains: Potassium (as potassium chloride) Glucosamine sulfate (from 667 mg KCl Shellfish extract) 90 500 MG MG KEY FEATURES: Contains true glucosamine sulfate (extracted from shellfish) — the form shown to be highly effective and most utilized in clinical studies. This form also provides sulfur, another essential factor in maintaining joint health. Utilizes the sodium-free potassium complex of glucosamine sulfate to provide added electrolyte support. Provides true 500 mg dosage of glucosamine sulfate from 667 mg of the potassium complex. Some products on the market may claim to have 500 mg of the whole complex, but at 75% glucosamine sulfate, which actually provide only 375 mg of true glucosamine sulfate. Highest grade starting materials are used and product is made under strict quality control regulations in our federally registered pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. Free of corn, soy, yeast, wheat, egg and milk products. BACKGROUND: Because joints are involved in movement, most often in a “weight bearing” situation, extremely powerful cushioning and strength are required to handle the pressure placed on bones at the joints. This is accomplished with articular cartilage, special tissue which covers the ends of bones at the site of a joint or, in the case of the spine, the presence of intervertebral discs between the bones of the spine. These and other connective tissue structures, including tendons and ligaments, owe their flexibility, resilience and powerful shock absorbing abilities to cartilage. Cartilage is a combination of water (to provide lubrication), glycosaminoglycans (complex biomolecular aggregates which attract and hold water), the tough flexible protein collagen, plus other proteins and cellular material. These substances combine to give cartilage its incredible shock absorbing and cushioning qualities. Even in this era of advanced material science, the amazing properties of cartilage cannot be synthetically duplicated. GLYCOSAMINOGLYCANS + PROTEIN PROTEOGLYCANS + COLLAGEN + + WATER CELLS MAJOR CONNECTIVE TISSUES: cartilage, joints, tendons, ligaments, skin, blood vessels Glycosaminoglycans are the molecules responsible for most of the amazing properties of cartilage; glucosamine sulfate is the primary building block of glycosaminoglycans (see chart on reverse). www.anaboliclabs.com 2002 ANABOL IC L ABORAT ORIES INC . PRG-195 With age, cartilage can begin to deteriorate as its metabolism, maintenance and regeneration processes decrease. This can be even more pronounced in patients with prior joint injuries, excess weight or those consuming a poor diet. Recent scientific studies have confirmed that supplementing the diet with glucosamine sulfate can help maintain and promote the health of joints and other connective tissues. A proposed mechanism which may help explain the effectiveness of dietary glucosamine sulfate suggests that, although the body can make glucosamine sulfate from other starting materials, there are steps along the way which may be rate limiting and/or which may decrease with increasing age.* bottleneck may occur during this process Providing “pre-made” glucosamine sulfate can avoid this bottleneck in the process of building cartilage and connective tissues, and thereby optimizing joint health throughout life.* PRECURSORS GLUCOSAMINE SOME IMPORTANT GLYCOSAMINOGLYCANS MAJOR COMPONENT OF: KEY PART OF MOLECULE: Chondroitin Sulfates Hyaluronic Acid cartilage, tendons, ligaments, aorta ground substance of connective tissue, synovial fluid N-acetylgalactosamine N-acetylglucosamine Keratan Sulfates Cartilage Dermatan Sulfates skin, blood vessels, heart valves N-acetylglucosamine N-acetylgalactosamine Glucosamine Sulfate DIRECTIONS: One or more tablets per day.
