NEWSLETTER –
2nd Quarter 2007
Dear Colleagues,
Greetings from the Vision2020 Regional Resource Centre for West Africa.
This quarter’s newsletter comes as a follow-up to the last one on Glaucoma.
This is a link to the Glaucoma Service Foundation to Prevent Blindness website, with detailed
information on Glaucoma – Definition, Risk Factors, Symptoms, Types, Diagnosis, Treatment,
Patient Awareness, and Glaucoma Fellowships. This site, voted one of the top five glaucoma
websites in the world, provides a wealth of information and links to other resources.
Best of all, it gives links to other Glaucoma Internet Sites and Glaucoma chat sessions with
Glaucoma Service Physicians of the Wills Eye Institute Glaucoma Service.
We are confident that you will find the information contained therein very useful.
As usual, we would love to get feedbacks from you – comments, questions, requests or reactions.
Please let us know how useful our information has been to you.
HAPPY READING.

The Glaucoma Service Foundation’s
mission is to preserve or enhance the
health of all people with glaucoma and to
provide a model of medical care by
supporting the educational and research
efforts of the physicians on the Wills Eye
Institute Glaucoma Service, the largest
glaucoma diagnosis and treatment center
in the country. Fifteen glaucoma
specialists use sophisticated diagnostic
facilities to evaluate the appearance and
functioning of the optic nerve and ocular
drainage system and recommend
treatment. A dynamic research program,
the Glaucoma Research Center,
constantly evaluates evidence for current
therapies and works to develop new ones.
Members of the Service have introduced
medical treatments and surgical
techniques that are now in common
practice world-wide. These unique chat
sessions with Glaucoma Service
physicians, honored at the 2004 Annual
Meeting of the American Academy of
