Primary Social Studies Skills: Habits of Mind
 Multiple Perspectives: students will address events from various
cultural, ethnic, political, economic, age and gender points of view
 Sourcing: students will comprehend and analyze primary and
secondary documents to identify bias, finding main ideas through
summarizing and categorizing
 Contextualization: students will be introduced to contextualization
using documents that can fit into a time period, event or situation

 Using physical and human geographic data to draw conclusions about regional
environments and populations
 Comparing cultures to discern similarities and differences
 Analyzing causes to determine effects
