Now you can deploy SAP applications in
hours, not days. An installation wizard in SUSE
Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications
installs both SAP software solutions and
their underlying Linux infrastructures almost
unattended. This simplified process seamlessly integrates the installation of SAP
applications with the installation of SUSE
Linux Enterprise Server. You can also easily
integrate third-party components that weren’t
part of the original SAP solution stack.
The installation workflow includes installation
and configuration of the operating system,
SAP components and any third-party software provided by SAP and SUSE partners.

Optimized for Business Continuity
The included SUSE Linux Enterprise High
Availability Extension allows to build clustering for both physical and virtual Linux
deployments. This solution supports NFS
as the standard network file system to
­provide file access to all nodes in the cluster.
For workloads that require parallel read/write
access to all nodes, SUSE offers the OCFS2
­cluster file system as an option to provide
the ­following benefits:

A separate update channel ensures SAP
and SUSE approval of patches and fixes
that are available specifically for a SUSE
Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications
subscription. The separate update channel

Support for Large Memory-intensive
­Workloads
Page cache limit is a kernel parameter
that has been introduced to SUSE Linux
­Enterprise Server for SAP Applications to
allow SAP administrators to optimize the
­kernel’s paging behavior. Some SAP solutions use systems with very large amounts of
memory to keep business data in memory.
Parts of this memory are very seldom
­accessed; in face of filesystem load, the
new page cache limit kernel parameter
­prevents paging by allowing to tune the
amount of page cache that the kernel is
able to use. This feature is crucial for SAP
applications to avoid performance drops
caused by unwanted paging activities.
Extended Service Pack
Overlap Support
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP
Applications includes extended service pack
support, which extends the grace period to
update to the latest service pack from six
months to 18 months, so customers can
align the operating system update with their
SAP software stack update. SUSE typically
releases three or four service packs during
the lifetime of a SUSE Linux Enterprise Server
for SAP Applications version, and to maintain their support entitlement, customers
normally must upgrade to the latest service
pack within six months of its release.
Priority Support Subscription
An SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP
Applications priority support subscription is
available to provide seamless 24x7 support
from SAP and SUSE. SAP customers can
initiate a support request via regular SAP
escalation channels, which include telephone,
web, CSN and the SAP Solution Manager.
Licensing
Support for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for
SAP Applications is offered as an annual
and three-year subscription by server. It is
available on the x86-64 (AMD64/Intel x64)
architecture.
