Interior
Exterior
An angle is formed by two noncollinear (not in a straight line) rays that have a common endpoint
B
A is the vertex
A
We can name this angle <A, <BAC, or <CAB
C
Interior and Exterior: an angle divides a plane into three distinct planes
A
List the points that lie in the interior
C
List the points that lie in the exterior
List the points that lie on the angle
B
Naming angles and sides
1. Name all angles that have B as a vertex
2. Name the sides of <5
3. Write another name for <6
Classify Angles
Acute – less than 90 degrees
Obtuse – more than 90 degrees
Right angle – equals 90 degrees
Congruent angles
Angles that have the same measurement are congruent angles. They are marked on a diagram
using arcs.
Bisect an angle
A ray that divides an angle into two congruent angles is called an angle bisector.
In the figure, QP and QR are opposite rays, and QT bisects < RQS
1. Name the obtuse angles
2. Name an acute angle
3. Name the right angle
4. If m<RQT = 6x + 5 and m<SQT = 7x – 2, find m<RQT.
5. Find m<TQS if m<RQS = 22a – 11 and m<RQT = 12a - 8
