Curriculum Vitae Name Xiahai ZHUANG Honorary Lecturer Age 31 Nationality Chinese University College London Homepage http://www.cs.ucl.ac.uk/staff/X.Zhuang/ Email [email protected] Personal Profiles 9 I joined centre for medical image computing (CMIC), University College London (UCL) as a research fellow in Sept 2006 and obtained a PhD in the field of medical image computing from department of medical physics and bioengineering, under the supervision of Dr. S. Ourselin, Prof. D. J. Hawkes, Prof. D. Hill, and Prof. R. Razavi (KCL). I helped generate the grant proposal to EPSRC worth 1.05 million pounds and was the nominated research scientist. 9 My research focuses on cardiac image computing which has been recognized by international peers: 1) I have been invited to give speeches for two conferences, including Fields-MITACS Conference on Mathematics of Medical Imaging which provided $2025 CAD for my expense and statistical shape modelling and its applications workshop in Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery (CAOS); I will also prepare a talk for European Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Biology Congress 2011 which invited Dr. S. Ourselin to give a lecture on our research. 2) I was the runner-up for the MICCAI Young Scientist Awards (New York University, 2008) for the invention of the LARM method. 3) I was invited to be a committee member of the 6th international conference on Functional Imaging and Modelling of the Heart (New York University, May 2011) 9 I have been developing a medical image computing platform since 2004. This project has over 200 files and 10MB source code, based on which several applications have been developed, including automatic registration, segmentation, and functional analyses for cardiology as well as other cutting-edge technology. The academic version has been used by a number of research institutes, including St. Thomas Hospital (KCL), Great Ormond St. Hospital, The Heart Hospital, University of Sheffield, University of Oxford and Imperial College London. More detail please refers to [http://www.cs.ucl.ac.uk/staff/X.Zhuang/zxhproj.html]. I drafted the protocol of image computing work of which I am responsible now. • My research includes medical image computing, computer assisted detection/diagnosis of cardiac diseases, cardiac functional analysis, in particular anatomical modelling and motion tracking. In image computing, I am particularly interested in three areas, i.e. fast computation, high accuracy, and high robustness. They can be separately achieved for specific applications. 2004/02 –2004/09 Software Engineer at Software Development of Freeborders, Shenzhen, P.R.
