DAY ONE
My brother loves learning about the Civil War, and he constantly shares
his new facts with us.
Simple or Compound Sentence?
Parts of Speech? (Noun, Pronoun, Verb, Adverb, Adjective,
Preposition, Conjunction, Interjection)
Parts of the Sentence? (Subject, Verb, Direct Object, Indirect Object,
Subject Complement, Prepositional Phrase)

Rules
Capitalize the first letter of the sentence.
Capitalize names of wars.
Put a comma before a conjunction that separates two complete
clauses.
He = third person subject pronoun
a. Subject = will be SUBJECT or subject complement of the
sentence
b. Other third person subject pronouns are she, it, they.
c. Singular (only one) - she, he, it
Plural (more than one) - they
Us = first person object pronoun
a. Object = direct object, indirect object, object of preposition
b. Another first person object pronoun is me.
c. Singular - me
Plural - us
Include a period at the end of the sentence.
Homework (DUE DAY THREE)
1. Write a sentence that includes all the rules. Highlight/circle each
rule.
a. You may use any third person subject pronoun or any first
person object pronoun.
2. Page 36-37 Exercises 1 and 2
a. You do NOT need to write out the sentence on either
exercise.
