Chief Surgical Resident Department of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical
Center, New York Directly supervised all aspects of patient care in Head and Neck, Skull-base, Otology and
General Otolaryngology service. Involved in performing ablative and reconstructive procedures in patients with
various head and neck tumors; assisted in free-tissue transfer aspects of reconstruction. Close collaboration with
neurosurgical services in surgical excision of various paranasal sinuses and skull-base tumors like acoustic
neuromas, meningiomas, chordomas and esthesioblastomas; assisted in free-tissue transfers of skull-base
defects. Otology service included performing otologic procedures in patients with conductive hearing loss and
chronic mastoiditis including mastoidectomies, tympanolplasties ossiculoplasties and stapedectomies. Directed
and attended monthly clinicopathologic conference with pathology department. Reported on monthly Morbidity
and Mortality conferences, tumor conferences and radiology conferences. Supervised aspects of in-patient and
outpatient care and training of junior and senior residents. Teaching of all senior medical students with head and
neck track, interviewer of residency applicants.

Also rotated in Elmhurst Hospital, Queens and Veterans Administrations Hospital, Bronx. Progressive
involvement in clinical duties and assistance in various head and neck procedures and otologic operations;
Performed all diagnostic procedures including rigid bronchoscopes, direct laryngoscopes and esophagoscopies.
Performed all external and endoscopic sinus procedures in diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory sinus
diseases.Supervised and attended weekly facial plastics clinic at MountSinai Medical Centei, New York;
performed all rhinoplasties (external and closed), rhytidectomies and blepharoplasties. Attended monthly cleft
conferences in collaboration with maxillofacial and oral surgery services; performed all diagnostic and
reconstructive procedures in trauma patients including facial fractures (mini and microplating, Midex system),
penetrating soft-tissue neck injuries and laryngeal injuries. 6 month research rotation in studying eustachian-tube
functions in guinea pigs; project required extensive microsurgical dissections of skull-base structures; training in
microsurgical techniques of vascular anastamosis. 3 month rotation in pathology and radiology department.

General surgical internship in colorectal, abdominal, vascular and breast services. Attended weekly general

morbidity and mortality conferences.
