POST TITLE: Data Warehouse Developer POST REF: RI21, RI22 SUMMARY OF ROLE: This role is responsible for the design, development, testing, refinement and ongoing support and maintenance of the Group’s data warehouse and reporting solution. This position will involve design, programming, source data analysis, data transformation, testing, data quality monitoring, troubleshooting, deployment, documentation, support and maintenance of the data warehouse and reporting solutions. Accountabilities Support the Data Warehouse Manager in the delivery of the Group’s ICT Strategy to include: Design and implement data warehouse logical model and physical database structures based on the overall business needs End to end software development, testing, source code management, change control and documentation based on agreed standards Delivery of work agreed in accordance with the annual work plan Act as Data Warehouse Business Partner working with key users to gathering, documenting and translating business requirements to allow modelling and building of the data warehouse and reporting solutions. Influence continuous improvement of development, deployment and data warehouse operational processes Production support of systems in partnership with the Applications Development Team and external software suppliers Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers to ensure high quality data warehouse build and on-going data warehouse support Training and up-skilling across the group to promote the adoption and usage of the data warehouse and reporting solutions. Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications Experience of Data analysis and Reporting – using SQL Server Reporting Services, SharePoint Web Parts / Services or other query and report writing tools Good understanding of the Group’s business activities with particular regard to the Financial, People, IT, Governance, Health & Safety, Environmental and Equality & Diversity requirements Effective use of IT and media as appropriate Good understanding of value for money principles Able to prioritise to achieve realistic targets, costs and time deadlines Demonstrated strong data warehouse knowledge, design and development skills, including data profiling, data quality management and master & reference data management and BI reporting skills Experience of SQL Server – database, SSIS, Transact-SQL, ETL optimization, Reporting Services and additional reporting platforms Source data analysis, data profiling and modelling Strong understanding of the relational, dimensional models Our Employees Are Considerate Smart (in their behaviour) (in the way they do things) Reports to: Data Warehouse Manager Location: Any location within the Group Post Profile: Tier 4 Key Tools & Processes to be utilised Risk & impact analysis Project development Problem solving and analytical ability Data protection principles Best practice on relational database report generation and dimensional modelling Best practice data warehouse system management ICT learning and development best practice ITIL Ability to travel across the Group location by car Performance Measures and KPIs These will be set in discussion with the job holder.
