Cell Cycle Foldable Procedure
1. Take a piece of extra long computer paper and fold it in half, hamburger-style.
2. Unfold the paper, and fold each end into the center fold, making 2 shutters. The
front of the shutters will be your cover, and all information will be inside.
3. On the cover, write the title “The Cell Cycle”, and your name, date, and class period
on the left-side shutter.
4. On the right-side shutter, draw the Cell Cycle diagram from (Figure 8.5 on page
155).
5. Open the shutters, and label your three sections as shown below these instructions.
6. In the “Interphase” column, draw three boxes: one for “Gap 1”, “Synthesis”, and
“Gap 2”. In each box, write a description of that stage of Interphase.
7. On the “Mitosis” section, tape 4 colored flaps. Place the tape at the top of the
colored flap, so you can lift and put information under it. Label these “Prophase”,
“Metaphase”, “Anaphase”, and “Telophase”.
8. On top of each flap, draw a cell in that stage of mitosis. Use the drawings from
Figure 8.6 on page 156.
9. Underneath each flap, write a description of that stage of mitosis.
10. In the Cytokinesis section, make two large boxes. Label one of the boxes “Animal
Cells”, and the other “Plant Cells”.
11. In the “Animal Cells” box, define the term “cleavage furrow” (page 157), and draw
cytokinesis in animal cells, labeling the cleavage furrow.
12. In the “Plant Cells” box, define the term “cell plate” (page 158), and draw
cytokinesis in plant cells, labeling the cell plate.
13. Glue along the backside of the foldable, and paste this into your notebook in the
“Notes” section.

underneath, describe the
stage in detail. Tape
flaps at the top of each.
