Abs cell count: % of cells counted x total count
- Abs cell count for WBCS: Relative X total WBC count
Manual white cell count: # cells count X dilution x 10/# of squares
Corrected WBC count: # WBC counted X 100 /nRBC + 100
Indices:
MCV: HCT/RBC x10; ranges: 80-100 fL
MCH: Hgb/RBC x10; ranges: 28-32 pg
MCHC: Hgb/Hct x100; ranges: 32-36%
= Automated hem analyzers calculate the Hct using parameters: MCV & RBC; formula: MCV x RBC/1000
Retic abs cell count
- Formula retic % = # retic counted x 100/1000
- Formula corrected retic count = pt’s retic count x pt’s Hct/ 45
- Formula retic abs count = Retic % X total RBC count range 25-75
