After her death,
Dickens and some
of his friends
went on a walking
tour of some of
Dickens's
childhood haunts.
His thoughts
naturally turned
to Fanny and to
their childhood.
It seems natural that in early 1849
he began to write what he later
called his favorite child, the novel
David Copperfield.
It is a beautiful and enjoyable
novel packed with unusual and
interesting characters as well as
an excellent plot that will hold
your interest throughout the
book. David Copperfield is also a
social commentary on Victorian
life in England during the 19th
century.
David
Copperfield is
about flawed
people trying
to make their
way through a
world that can
be beautiful
and terrible.
It is about what
happens when
people come
together with
respect,
compassion,
forgiveness,
loyalty and what
happens when
they don't.
The Personal History of David
Copperfield is a 2019 comedydrama film written and directed
by Armando Iannucci, based on
the 1850 novel David Copperfield
by Charles Dickens.
David Copperfield, in full The
Personal History of David
Copperfield, novel by English
writer Charles Dickens, published
serially in 1849–50 and in book
form in 1850.
Dickens is known for a rich range of
writing styles-indignant, ironical,
melodramatic, and sentimental, all of
which appear in David Copperfield. To
set the nostalgic tone for this novel,
he also uses certain words like "little"
and "old" more than usual, so his
language seems especially
sentimental.
David Copperfield is the eighth novel
by Charles Dickens. The novel's full
title is The Personal History,
Adventures, Experience and
Observation of David Copperfield the
Younger of Blunderstone Rookery
(Which He Never Meant to Publish on
Any Account). It was first published as
a serial in 184950, and as a book in
1850.
The conclusion
is everything
that happens
after that plot
resolution: after
David and
Agnes marry,
they set up
house and
Agnes bears
David many
children.
David Copperfield becomes a love
story when he falls for his boss's
daughter, Dora, a ringleted
simpleton who will communicate
only through her small dog, Jip.
She has to disappear in order for
David's longtime friend Agnes to
come to the fore, revealing
herself as his true match all along.

Full of tragedy

It was Dickens' favourite among
his own novels. In the preface to
the 1867 edition, Dickens wrote,
"like many fond parents, I have in
my heart of hearts a favourite
child. And his name is David
Copperfield." The story follows
the life of David Copperfield from
childhood to maturity.
