DIFFERENTIAL EQUATION TECHNIQUE BY A GOUTHAM VENKATA SAI 14VV1D5011 MTECH-1st Year DIFFERENTIAL EQUATION METHOD In this method the faulted line is modelled as lumped series R-L circuit. The distributed nature of the line parameters as well as the shunt capacitances are neglected. Thus we can relate the voltage & current at the relay location and the resistance & inductance up to the fault location with the help of the differential equation. V= 𝑖𝑥 + 𝑑𝑖𝑦 𝐿 𝑑𝑡 where ix is the current in the faulted phase. iy is the function of all the three phase currents. R & L are the functions of resistance & inductance of the transmission line up to the fault location. These are explained on baord. THANK YOU
