DOUBLE SLIT INTERFERENCE. Determine the wavelength emitted by a green laser source by observing a double slit interference pattern produced by the light passing through a double slit of known separation (0.125 mm). Use the photograph shown below, which was taken by projecting the pattern on a screen placed 116 cm from the slits. The grid on the screen is a millimeter grid. Perform an error analysis using the accepted value of the wavelength which is 532 nm. Make sure that your theory clearly describes the principles of physics underlying this experiment, including diagrams as appropriate. Explain why the pattern is particularly bright at the center and significantly dimmer as you move away from the center. The theory section of this lab will carry more weight than usual.
