Seleção Automática de Contingências e Análise da Segurança Estática de Sistemas de Potência Utilizando Redes Neurais M.S. Rodrigues, J.C.S. Souza, M.B. Do Coutto Filho and M. Th. Schilling This paper presents a method for automatic contingency selection and static security evaluation of electrical power systems. The method uses multi-layer Perceptron neural networks whose inputs are power flows and injections, while the outputs identify potencially harmful contingencies. The neural networks are capable of identifying as critical only the contingencies that really cause violations of system operating constraints. The performance of the method is evaluated for different operating conditions using the IEEE 24 bus test system.
