A generic form of
GLEEVEC® (imatinib mesylate)
is now available.
If you decide GLEEVEC is
the right medication for your
patient, include Dispense as
Written (DAW), or your state or
territory’s required language,
on the prescription. DAW
indicates to the pharmacy that
they should not substitute a
generic for branded medication.
Out-of-pocket costs may
differ for branded and generic
medications. The language for
your state or territory is included
on this page. Please note that
language requirements may be
different for other states
or territories.
TEXAS
The prescriber must handwrite “Brand
Necessary” or “Brand Medically Necessary,”
or product selection is allowed.
The language or special
instructions included to the
right are what your state or
territory requires to be included
on a prescription in order to
preserve your choice for branded
GLEEVEC.
State and territory regulations
are subject to change. Please
consult your state or territory’s
Board of Pharmacy and your
state or territory’s Medicaid
office to verify prescribing
requirements.
