3D DIGITAL BREAST TOMOSYNTHESIS TRAINING GUIDELINES
MQSA DOES NOT require that the 8-hour DBT training be in the form of CE credits.
The technologist must have 8 hours of initial new-modality training in DBT, either including or supplemented by
training in the unique features of the specific manufacturer’s DBT system being utilized.
RadComm, Inc. offers this 6.0 credit course in the general features of DBT that is designed to introduce the
technologist to DBT terminology and practices. With an additional 2.0 hours of “on-site clinical” manufacturerspecific DBT training, in the mammography department by a qualified DBT technologist or medical physicist, the
mammographer can satisfy the 8-hour MQSA DBT training requirement. The 2.0 hours of “on-site clinical”
training does NOT earn continuing education credits. The clinical training is only necessary if your facility is
performing 3D Breast Tomosynthesis.
It is extremely important to obtain documentation from the training provider detailing the dates, hours in training,
location, name and credentials of the instructor, the content of the training, and the manufacturer of the DBT system.
This document serves as evidence of DBT training in the unique features of a specific system as required by MQSA.
