Grading for GEOMETRY:
Daily Work (60%): Daily work is comprised of homework and in class grades.
No late homework is accepted.
Quiz (40%): Expect 1-3 quizzes per week. You may REDO 1 quiz per 6-weeks grading
period. Before a re-quiz will be given, you must come to tutoring with me at
least once, on a day prior to retaking the quiz. The maximum grade for any
redo is a 70. If you earn less than 70 on the second attempt, the higher of the
two grades will count.
-
-
-
NO WORK, NO CREDIT! SHOW YOUR WORK ON ALL ASSIGNMENTS.
Homework will be graded by you in RED PEN. If there are any questions,
they should be addressed either during tutorials or in a set time at the
beginning of class.
Homework may be done in pencil or blue/black pen only.
The maximum grade for any redo is a 70. If you earn less than 70 on the
second attempt, the higher of the two grades will count.
Academic Integrity: Any student found in violation of the school’s
academic integrity policy will be given a zero for that assessment. There will
be no opportunity to redo this assessment.
For UIL eligibility purposes, all redo work must be turned in prior to the end
of the six weeks.
-
Binders will be divided into 4 sections: Vocabulary, Notes, Homework, and
Quizzes. If you want other sections, they may be placed behind these
(paper, theorems, etc.). Your binder will be collected at the end of the 6weeks and graded as two (2) quiz grades. Insert returned papers as soon
as they are handed back to you in chronological order and write down the
grade on your grade sheet.
Classroom Expectations for Success:
Come to class prepared with your brain turned “ON” for learning. Some classes
will be more active than others.
Participation is expected.
Class
time/discussion is the best time to take an educated guess and be wrong –
better there than on your homework/quiz/test. Being wrong is part of learning,
so do not be afraid to contribute to class discussions.
Discipline:
-
1. We will attempt to work things out between us, teacher and student. I
may assign tutorials for missing assignments.
2. If the problem does not require immediate discipline, the next step is a
phone call home.
3. A referral will be written for you to take to the office, and the
Administration will take action from that point on.
Google Sites
- My website on the top-front of this page holds most of the information you
seek. Please take a look at it. You can also access it from the Westwood site
through our Math department.
There is ALSO a WESTWOOD GEOMETRY SITE that is accessible from my
site that you will need.
IF YOU NOTICE SOMETHING MISSING FROM THE SITE, LET ME KNOW,
AND I WILL TAKE A LOOK AT IT ASAP.
-
Should you be absent for whatever reason, the Homework is available on
this site on the WESTWOOD GEOMETRY SITE linked from my page.
-
The HOLT website has notes, tutorials, your book, and more to help you
online. Please make sure you take a look at it when necessary.
It is great for when you are absent!!!
REMEMBER: YOUR EDUCATION IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. GET INVOLVED IN IT,
BE PROACTIVE. IF YOU WANT TO LEARN, YOU CAN. IT MAY REQUIRE SACRIFICE.
THE CHOICE IS YOURS. YOU HAVE MANY RESOURCES AT YOUR DISPOSAL – USE
THEM!!!!!!!!!
