Home Plumbing Upgrade Project Submission 7 to CIS-272 Scope Statement Project Objective: Update existing home plumbing system, changeover from original cast/galvanized iron pipe to modern copper/brass components, not to exceed a budget of $1200.00, without compromising existing dwelling functionality during update. Completion near Spring 2010. Scope Statement Deliverables 1. Dismantling / removal of existing plumbing system, 2. Installation of modern copper/brass plumbing system, 3. Environmentally responsible disposal / recycling of old plumbing system components. Scope Statement Milestones 1. Secure worksite permits required by City, 2. Establish detailed plan of (tiered) project execution, 3. Identify and gather all components, all required tools/equipment, all required installation aids and safety equipment. Execution cannot compromise dwelling functionality during update. 4. Completion at or near Spring 2010. i. Adherence to standard workplace and work-practice safety, ii. Use of high quality certified components and installation methodologies as required by all local ordinances and State rules, iii. All project materials will adhere to Type K (blue code) due to superior installation/quality and anticipated compliance to budget Project Life Cycle Phases Phase II: Planning 1. Confirm with City acceptability of homeowner-performed upgrades/repairs, 2. Secure any worksite permits required by City (if any), 3. Establish and document detailed plan of (tiered) project execution, 4. Identify and gather all required copper/brass components for upgrade, 5. Identify and gather all required common or specialized tools and equipment, 6. Identify and gather all required installation aids including solder, heat protection and safety equipment (eye protection, fire extinguisher, etc.), 7. Formalize Project Schedule by use of PERT/Gant chart Project Life Cycle Phases Phase III: Execution 1. Commence execution of project plan (tiered plan): i. ii. iii. iv. 2. Hot water (Bathroom feed from hot water heater), prior Spring, Cold water (upstream, feed to hot water heater), prior Spring, Hot water (Kitchen feed from hot water heater), near Spring, Cold water side (Kitchen feed), at/near to Spring.
