On November 23, 2010, the education adviser in the Philippines visited Tandang Sora Integrated
School, located in Caloocan City, Metro Manila.
This school participates in the Special Program in
Foreign Languages, which the Department of
Education of the Philippines (DepEd), in
collaboration with the Ministry of Education,
Culture and Sport of Spain, the Cervantes
Institute and AECID (the Spanish Agency for
International Cooperation for Development), have
been implementing since the 2009/2010 school
year, and in which fifty-seven (57) public high
schools from the seventeen (17) Philippine
Mr. Allan Embuscado’s 3rd year Spanish class
administrative regions take part as of school year
2011/2012.
Tandang Sora Integrated School joined this programme in school year 2010/2011, and it has two
teachers of Spanish, Mr. Allan Embuscado and Ms. Lutgarda Daliday Ocampo.
The school principal, Ms. Grace Tabo, and the Education Adviser attended a third year class whose
teacher is Mr. Allan Embuscado. His class of 35 students dealt with everyday activities in Spanish,
especially around school.
Both teachers of Spanish at Tandang Sora Integrated School participate in the training programme
which is coordinated by the Ministry of
Education, Culture and Sport of Spain, the
Cervantes
Institute
in
Manila
and
the
Department of Education of the Philippines
(DepEd), through which selected public school
teachers join a 3-year professional development
programme
which
combines
face-to-face
intensive training during their summer holidays,
