How do bioarchaeologists study diet? 1) Oral Health 2) Nutritional Disease 3) Stable Isotope Analysis What are stable isotopes? Two or more forms of an element that have the same number of protons but different numbers of neutrons, leading to different atomic mass. Two types: radioactive and stable Stable isotopes do NOT breakdown over time. Stable isotope ratios Compares the amount of one isotope to another. Stable isotope ratios are reported as delta (𝞭) values in parts per mil (‰). Where do stable isotopes come from? How do stable isotopes enter our bodies?
