These regulations are based on: Agreement on state occupational group life insurance (TGL-S) All state employees are covered by the agreement on state occupational group life insurance (TGL-S). Insurance cover begins the day the employee starts working as an employee and is valid as long as employment continues, however to a maximum of 65 years of age. If the employee remains in employment after the age of 65, the insurance cover is still valid under certain conditions and if the employer concludes his/her employment before the age of 65 there is a certain length of extended cover. This insurance cover provides financial protection for the employee's surviving spouse/cohabitant and children. Financial compensation consists of: Basic grant Children's grant Funeral assistance If an employee's spouse/cohabitant dies and has no occupational group life insurance of his /her own, this insurance provides a certain amount of cover for the employee. In order to enjoy full insurance cover the employee must work at least 16 hours per week. The National Government Employee Pensions Board (SPV) is the decision-making body as concerns group life insurance.
