Sports/Exerci se See also Cheating, Integrity, Pride
1. T aking care of our physical bodies is one way to honor the Holy
Spirit, who lives inside ofus.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Do you not know that your body is a
temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received
from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price.
Therefore honor God with your body.
Psalm 139:13-16 For you created my inmost being; you knit me
together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully
and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full
well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the
secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
your eyes saw my unformed body.
2. Cheating is stealing ifyou take a prize that belongs to another.
2Timothy2:5 Similarly, ifanyone competes as an athlete, he does not
receive the victor's crown unless he competes according to the rules.
Exodus 20:15 You shall not steal.
EpheSians 4:28 He who has been stealing must steal no longer,
but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he
may have something to share with those in need.
Ephesians 4:25
3. It takes great effort and sacrifice to win the prize.
1 Corinthians 9:24-25 Do you not know that in a race all the
runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to

get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict
training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to
get a crown that will last forever.
1 Corinthians 9:26-27
4. Doing what God wants is much more valuable than winning an
earthly prize or having a buffbody.
1 Timothy4:8 For physical training is ofsome value, but godliness
has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and
the life to corne.
Philippians 3:14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for
which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of
the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good
confession in the presence of many witnesses.
