“48-SPEC” MATERIALS (Cont.) DAIMLER TRUCKS NORTH AMERICA Assign Materials OVERVIEW This document provides a step-by-step tutorial for assigning material properties to a solid body. Two options both defined as Step 2 of this exercise are available. The preferred method is to assign the DTNA specified material known as a 48spec. Alternatively, if the material can not be found in the Materials List using the DTNA filter, a custom material may be applied. 1 Define the target body for material a. Select the Target Body b. Select DaimlerAddons /MasterData /MassProp Solid. Upon selection of the solid body the Material List will appear. 2 Apply the “48-Spec” Material a. Within the Materials List dialog choose DTNA from the drop-down filter. b. Select the desired material. c. Select Apply Material. Common scenarios include vendor assembled parts/modules and composite material, among others. 4 Select the point located at the CoG. 5 Enter the calculated weight. Select OK DAIMLER TRUCKS NORTH AMERICA Assign Weight to the Center of Gravity To apply weight to the part the center of gravity (CoG) must be acquired from the supplier or calculated. Step 1 provides the stepby-step process for calculating the CoG of the part. 1 Calculate the Center of Gravity Select /Analysis, /Measure /More /Measure Bodies. The Measure Bodies dialog box opens. 6 Select option: Create Principal Axes. With selection filter Control Point “on” select the Point function.
