Job Opportunity: Livestock Industry Analyst

The Position:
• Maintaining and developing new livestock supply chain data, market analysis and
business intelligence activities
• Conducting full livestock and meat supply, demand, trade and price analysis that
results in both short term (weekly) and longer term (5-10 year) sector forecasts
• Conveying market research and analysis to clients through written reports and
oral communications
• Cultivating and maintaining contacts with government, academic and industry
representatives
• Responsible for daily monitoring of livestock and meat markets as well as key
feed input markets (grain and vegetable protein) and implications of market
developments to producers and supply chain participants
• Specific responsibilities include: 1) developing market strategies for clients; 2)
utilizing market forecasts in developing hedging strategies for both producers and
upstream supply chain participants; and 3) providing expertise on the livestock
and meat industries for training purposes, outlook conferences and as a
contributor to projects and Multi Client studies
The Requirements and Qualifications:
• Qualified candidates will have earned a Masters Degree or Ph.D. in agricultural
economics, applied economics or economics
• Candidates should have a minimum of 1-3 years experience conducting economic
or market research and analysis in the livestock/meat industry or other commodity
markets
• Superior written and oral communications skills are also required
• Candidates should have excellent MS Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint skills
Salary is dependent on candidate qualifications and related work experience.
