To Whom it May Concern: June 23, 2010 Marigold Natural Pharmacy is a gift for our Vancouver Island and Gulf Island communities. When I first walked into Marigold, I had an overwhelming feeling of “ah, at last, a store that offers what I need to keep myself and my family healthy”. I have heard from many, many people, the satisfaction with the products and services they have found at Marigold. The incredible formulations made by Rudy Sanchez are so potent and powerful. The G&O formulation is a tool for family health, fighting off infections naturally. I can feel good about coating my children’s tender skin with his all natural sunscreen. Pinworms can be naturally combated with Rudy’s formulation of “Ants in your Pants”. Rudy is not making medicine for the masses, as the pharmaceutical companies are, he is making medicine for real people, for families, with wholesome ingredients, created on site, delivered to the customer with instructions. He is there to answer questions and to empower us to take our heath into our own hands, rather than rely on the allopathic medical system, that provides band aid solutions rather than getting to the core of disease in our bodies. On June 14, four inspectors from Health Canada, accompanied by two RCMP officers, and inspectors from the College of Pharmacists of BC raided the pharmacy and seized products without NPN's (Natural Product Number) and ordered the closure of the store. The total value of the products taken away by Health Canada was $146,290.85 (valued at cost) How is possible that a highly successful family owned business, should be shut down? How is Health Canada honouring the good work of Rudy Sanchez, the owner of this business, treating him like a criminal? How is it fair for inspectors from Health Canada to surprise a community minded local business with a raid? Just the terms used; “raid and seizing” have such a negative connotation. The “inspectors” were accompanied by RCMP officers, had a U-haul outside, had boxes ready to pack store stock. Why was Marigold not asked to comply with regulations rather than a raid being performed? The citizens of Canada are paying for the enforcement of the NHPR (Natural Health Products Regulations). Is this where we want our tax dollars to go? Why are we spending so much money on the creation and enforcement of NHPR when there is little or no evidence of abuse or overdose with these natural products that are being regulated. Meanwhile, a true crime against nature and Canadian citizens is being waged in the prairies, with the biotechnology industry ruining livelihoods of farmers in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Heritage seeds are being lost because of the contamination of GE crops, and a giant corporation, Monsanto, can sue a farmer because their seed infiltrated his crop! Health Canada is doing nothing about this! No regulations here! Should our tax money go towards seizing; Natural Sunscreens with Zinc Oxide, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Wild Oregano Oil, Arnica Ointment 10%, Oil of Lavender pure essential, pure Colloidal Silver, Goldenseal Powder in Manuka 16+ Medicinal Honey, from store shelves? These are the products taken from Marigold Natural Pharmacy. Where is the freedom in this? Truly, Lovena Harvey, owner of Gathering Place Trading Company 250 935 6993, [email protected]
