Exercising During your Menstrual Cycle
Menstruation
 Avoid strenuous aerobic exercising during your period.
 Choose gentle exercising such as yoga, tai chi or chi gong.
Caution: Do not do any yoga inversions.
Pre-ovulation
 Spend 20-30 minutes on aerobic exercises, such as brisk walking, hiking,
swimming, cycling, gym workouts.
Ovulation
 Exercise gently; swimming, walking, yoga, or chi gong. Avoid exercise that
involves high impact, such as running. Exercising here is particularly
beneficial as it gets the blood moving, which encourages good blood flow
to the uterus.
Potential Implantation
 Moderate exercise keeps the qi and blood flowing after ovulation, when an
embryo may be trying to implant. Choose walking, cycling, swimming, yoga
or chi gong. Avoid intense aerobic exercise or high-impact exercise such as
running or trampolining.
