Message from NHS Scotland elibrary - changes to elibrary subscription content
Unfortunately, due to budget pressures next year, we have had to remove MD Consult
from the e-Library's collection of subscriptions resources.
From March 31st we will no longer have access to MD Consult resources. This will
obviously have an affect on our eBooks collection however we will soon be offering
access to the following titles via OVID:
Essentials of Microbiology for Dental Students
Guide to Effective Care in Pregnancy and Childbirth
Health Measurement Scales
Obesity Prevention and Public Health
Oxford Handbook for the Foundation Programme
Oxford Handbook of Accident and Emergency Medicine
Oxford Handbook of Acute Medicine
Oxford Handbook of Anaesthesia
Oxford Handbook of Clinical and Laboratory Investigations
Oxford Handbook of Clinical Diagnosis
Oxford Handbook of Clinical Medicine
Oxford Handbook of Critical Care
Oxford Handbook of Dental Patient Care
Oxford Handbook of General Practice
Oxford Handbook of Genitourinary Medicine, HIV and AIDS
In terms of MD Consult journals, a number of the titles in MD Consult are available
via other providers, especially Science Direct, however we will no longer be
providing access to the following journals:
American Journal of Kidney Diseases
American Journal of Medicine
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology
American Journal of Sports Medicine
Journal of Pediatrics
Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography
Lancet Infectious Diseases
Lancet Neurology
Lancet Oncology
The Clinics series
Again due to the same budgetary pressures, we will also be reviewing our access to
Web of Science and the pharmacuetical resources Martindale, Stockley's and Herbal
Medicines and it is possible that access will be removed in the coming weeks but this
can not be clarified at this point in time.
We will be adding the following resources to the e-Library in April but it must be
stressed that these are not replacments for the above resources:

DynaMed is a medical information database with nearly 3,000 clinical topic
summaries. Designed for use at the point-of-care, providing best
available evidence and updated daily.
UptoDate
UpToDate is specifically designed to answer the clinical questions that arise in daily
practice and to do so quickly and easily so that it can be used right at the point of care.
Our physician editors and authors review and update our content on a continuous
basis and a new, peer-reviewed version is issued every four months. The published
evidence is summarized and specific recommendations made for patient care.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this but as already stated this has been
due to budgetary issues.
