Mission Hope invites you to attend a free community talk: Successfully Managing Cancer and Diabetes Cheryl Decker, MD, FACEP It may surprise you to learn that between eight and 18 percent of people living with cancer also have diabetes. Cancer and cancer treatment can bring about metabolic changes that cause or aggravate symptoms of diabetes so it becomes imperative to properly manage diabetes during a dual diagnosis. While managing both diseases simultaneously can be difficult, it can be done. With years of clinical experience, Cheryl Decker, MD, Survivorship and Supportive Care Program, and Sheri Etheredge, RD, Certified Diabetes Educator, are highly-qualified to provide pertinent information and specific strategies for coping with this additional challenge. Tuesday, April 18 • 5:00 p.m. Sheri Etheredge, RD, CDE Coordinator, Diabetes Education Center Did you know? There is a strong link between diabetes and different types of cancers. It often occurs with breast, endometrial, pancreatic and colon cancers.
