Successfully Managing Cancer and Diabetes
Cheryl Decker, MD, FACEP
It may surprise you to learn that between eight and 18 percent of people
­living with cancer also have diabetes. Cancer and cancer treatment can bring
about metabolic changes that cause or aggravate symptoms of diabetes so
it becomes imperative to properly manage diabetes during a dual diagnosis.
While managing both diseases simultaneously can be difficult, it can be
done. With years of clinical experience, Cheryl Decker, MD, Survivorship
and Supportive Care Program, and Sheri Etheredge, RD, Certified Diabetes
Educator, are highly-qualified to provide pertinent information and specific
strategies for coping with this additional challenge.
