TRANSCRANIAL
MAGNETIC
STIMULATION (TMS)
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a revolutionary treatment that offers long-term
symptomatic relief to those who suffer from treatment-resistant depression. It is a noninvasive and
non-sedative brain stimulation therapy. Studies published in recent years have shown a significant
reduction in depressive symptoms of patients receiving TMS treatment. In addition to its effectiveness, TMS has none of the negative side effects that accompany antidepressant medications.
Partnering with Achieve TMS, Sovereign Health of California is proud to offer
this service to patients with treatment-resistant depression.
A NEW HOPE FOR THOSE WITH DEPRESSION
TMS is approved by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) as a treatment
for patients with treatment-resistant depression.
HOW DOES TMS WORK?
A helmet with a magnetic coil is placed on the patient’s head.
Magnetic pulses are sent across neural pathways to activate mood
centers in the brain. This helps restore brain function for lasting
change and complete remission in some cases. It is the most
advanced treatment for depression.
