ProofofConceptPrototype: Iwouldfirstbuildaterrainwithafewpondsscatteredintheworld.Tostartoff,Iwillbe simulatingthespreadingoftheZikavirusthroughinfectedmosquitoesfoundinapond.Thefirst mosquitoeswillbecomeinfectedthroughacollisionwithaZikadiseaseagentfoundintheponds. BecausethemosquitoeswiththeZikavirusareusuallyfoundnearstandingwater,themosquitoeswill roamaroundnearthevicinityofthepondandwillonlybeabletomoveacertaindistancefromthe pondbeforetheymigratebacktothepond.AfterIfindthattheprototypewiththeZikadiseaseagent works,IwillbedeletedtheZikadiseaseagentandaddhumansintothesimulation.Afewinfected humanswillbeaddedintothesimulation.TheZikaviruswillbespreadbycollisionswithpeopleand mosquitoes.Ifanuninfectedmosquitobitesaninfectedperson,themosquitowillbecomeinfectedand turnintoadifferentcolor.Ifaninfectedhumancollideswithanuninfectedhuman,therewillbea certainprobabilitythattheuninfectedhumanwillbecomeinfectedsincetheZikaviruscanonlybe spreadthroughcertaininteractionssuchassex,bloodtransfusion,etc.Thehumanswillalsogetinfected whentheycollidewiththeinfectedmosquitoesandwillbecomeadifferentcolortoshowinfection.If themosquitohitsthepondcolorofblue,themosquitowillstopandthenwait12days/ticks.Itwill reproduce5mosquitoesafter12days/tickshavepassed.Infectedmosquitoescaninfectother uninfectedmosquitoesiftheycollide.Themosquitoeswilldieafteraperiodoftime(stilldecidinghow longthemosquitoeshavetolive).Myagentsaremosquitoesandhumans(uninfectedandinfected).I willknowit’sworkingifwhenthemosquitohitsthepondcolorofblue,itwillstopandreproduce5 mosquitoesafter12days/ticks.Iwillalsoknowit’sworkingifthemosquitoeschangecoloriftheycollide withaninfectedhumanandchangecolor. AsIexpandmyproject,IwanttoadddefectstothehumansthatareinfectedwiththeZikavirus tomysimulation.Thevirusinfectionduringpregnancyisknowntocauseseriousbirthdefectscalled microcephalyandotherbraindefects.Sinceitmightnotbepossibletoaddpregnancywiththetime clockinthesimulation,IwillcreateacertainprobabilitythattheinfectedhumanswithZikawillhave defects.Theinfectedhumanswillliveuptoacertaintimeperiodbeforetheywilldiesincethereis currentlynocurefortheZikavirus.Iplanonkeepingagraphthatshowsthosethatareinfectedwith ZikaandthosethatarenotinfectedwithZika.Ialsoplantohaveaclocktomeasurethetimeofthe simulation.
