Ultrafast electron dynamics in metallic quantum well nanostructures
Using femtosecond time-resolved two-photon
photoemission (2PPE) we analyze hot
electron lifetimes in Pb films on Si(111). In
this system occupied and unoccupied
electronic quantum well states disperse with
Pb coverage characteristically as seen in the
figure. There the 1PPE and 2PPE intensity is
depicted for occupied and unoccupied states,
respectively.
