Useful adjectives
These may help students when writing their college essays
1. Spontaneous- resulting from internal or natural processes, with no apparent
external influence
2. Impulsive - having a tendency to act on sudden urges or desires
3. Impetuous - acting on the spur of the moment, without considering the
consequences
4. Stable - steady and not liable to change
5. Methodical - systematic or painstaking
6. Idealistic – Impractical person; somebody who rejects practical considerations in
favor of the pursuit of perfection
7. Sincere - honest and unaffected in a way that shows what is said is really meant
8. Rational - governed by, or showing evidence of, clear and sensible thinking and
judgment, based on reason rather than emotion or prejudice
9. C urious - eager to know about something or to get information
10. Complex - difficult to analyze, understand, or solve
11. A dventurous - willing or eager to participate in risky or exciting activities
12. Daring - showing a courageous or reckless disregard for danger
13. H ur ried - done, made, or performed too quickly because of a real or perceived
lack of time
14. T raditional - based on or relating to tradition
15. Responsible - accountable to somebody for an action or for the successful
carrying out of a duty
16. Dependable - able to be trusted to act in the way required or expected
17. F aithful - believing firmly in something or somebody, especially a religion
18. Compassionate - showing feelings of sympathy for the suffering of others, often

19. Inspirational - stimulating people into greater efforts or more enthusiastic or
