Ellen AB’s production patent approved in Japan
Ellen AB announced today that Japan Patent Office has approved Ellen AB’s patent application for its
production process for probiotic sanitary protection products. This means that the company now has
patent protection in 22 markets. The patent, which is valid through 2021, has already been approved
in strategically important markets, including Europe, Australia, Canada and the USA.
The combination of Ellen’s production patent and its patented probiotic strains gives the company a
well patented product to offer its distributors and licensees. Ellen AB has also applied for a global
patent for its probiotic strains and secured 20 approved country patents to date. “The patent
approval granted in Japan means that Ellen AB has, to all intents and purposes, global patent
protection for the production technology we use for sanitary products treated with probiotic lactic
acid bacteria,” says CEO Monica Wallter.
Ellen’s patented lactic acid bacteria are the same as those found in healthy women and can
contribute to a sound and balanced vaginal bacteria flora. Large amounts of lactic acid bacteria are
normally found in the genital area and are the basis for good vaginal health. A sound bacteria flora
reduces the risk of vaginal infections that can cause itching, irritation and odorous discharge.
Introducing extra lactic acid bacteria helps the body to restore its natural balance.
Vaginal infections are very common. While many women have only the occasional infection,
countless women have recurrent infections. Ellen’s probiotic tampons offer women the opportunity
to maintain their bacteria flora.
