Gas Laws Foldable
1. Take a piece of paper and fold in lengthwise (hot dog style), cut the paper in
half along the fold. Take the 2 strips of paper, stack and fold them hamburger
style and staple on the fold. You should have a booklet with 4 pages.
2. Title Page: Gas Laws. Take your foldable and open it to the first inside page. •
Onto each page you will copy 1 of the 3 items listed below as a heading. (They are
headings on the pages listed.) • Boyle’s Law • Charles’ Law • Gay-Lussac’s Law.
3. On each page please complete the following sections for the law listed at the
top of the page: Definition • Direct or Inverse Proportion • Formula (From sign on
word wall) • Example from book of this occurrence in real life (illustration).

ANSWERS:
Boyle’s Law
Boyle determined that when the pressure on a gas held in a sealed container at a
constant temperature is increased, the volume of the gas will decrease and vice-versa.
Inverse relationship
This equation of P1V1 = P2V2 will be very helpful in solving Boyle's Law problems .
Charles’ Law
He found that as the volume increases the temperature also increases. If the
temperature decreases than the volume also decreases. Direct relationship.
This equation of V1 ÷ T1 = V2 ÷ T2 will be very helpful in solving Charles' Law problems.
Gay-Lussac’s Law
As the temperature increases, the pressure increases. Conversely, when the
temperature decreases, pressure decreases. Temperature and pressure are directly
related.
This equation of P1 ÷ T1 = P2 ÷ T2 will be very helpful in solving Gay-Lussac's Law problems.
Temperature and Pressure are directly related
