ABOUT
The Robert H. Lurie
Comprehensive Cancer Center
of Northwestern University
The Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University is committed to
providing our patients with innovative, compassionate care while advancing medical knowledge.
All of the Lurie Cancer Center’s physicians are on the faculty of Northwestern University’s Feinberg
School of Medicine, applying the knowledge gained from the latest research to their practices at
Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation and Northwestern Memorial Hospital. We are proud
to be one of only 41 National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the country and
a founding member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, an alliance of 21 of the world’s
leading cancer centers dedicated to improving the quality and effectiveness of care provided to patients
with cancer.
Our Clinical Cancer Centers are designed with the physical and emotional comfort of cancer
patients in mind, providing medical, surgical, and radiation oncology treatment options as well as
early detection and screening programs. The addition of the Maggie Daley Center for Women’s
Cancer Care in Prentice Women’s Hospital allows the Lurie Cancer Center to take a comprehensive
approach to meeting the unique needs of women with breast and gynecologic cancers.
Some of the unique resources that set the Lurie Cancer Center apart include the Northwestern
Brain Tumor Institute; Chicago’s largest stem cell transplant program treating hematologic
malignancies; extensive options for minimally invasive surgery; the region’s leading cancer genetic
testing and counseling program; a nationally recognized hospice/palliative care program; unique
fertility preservation services; a novel, comprehensive approach to liver-directed therapies;
multidisciplinary clinical cancer teams; and more than 200 clinical trials exploring innovative ways
to treat cancer.

We understand that a cancer diagnosis presents patients, their families, and caregivers with new
and unexpected challenges. The Lurie Cancer Center’s Supportive Care Program includes
psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, dietitians, and health educators that are here to
help during each stage of treatment and recovery. Integrative and rehabilitative medicines are
available to complement our clinical services and foster healing.
