Aim of course: Basic theoretical knowledge and practical ability to
perform statistical analysis of medical data and its presentation.
Course titles:
1. Introduction – descriptive statistics
Variables in statistics; Types of variables (categorical, continuous); Functional
relation between variables; Methods for describing the distribution of
variables; Central theory (mean, median, percentiles, standard deviation etc);
correct graphic presentation of data.
2. Basic concepts in statistical tests
Errors of 1st and 2nd order; Robustness; p-value; H0-H1; Common
distributions; Parametric and non-parametric tests.
3. Statistical tests for categorical results
Chi-test (2x2); Fisher exact test; Chi-test (NxN).
4. Prediction analysis (PPV; NPV; specificity etc)
5. Statistical tests for comparing the mean of continuous results
T-test, paired and non-paired; Man-Whitney U test; Wilcoxon test.
6. Statistical tests for comparing the variance of continuous results
Anova tests; post-hoc corrections.
7. Correlations between continuous results
Pearson; Non-parametric Spearman.
8. Multi-factorial analysis
Regression; Logistic Regression; Binary logistic regression,
Odds Ratio, Sensitivity, Specificity, PPV, NPV, Accuracy.
9. Survival analysis
Kaplan Meir Survival analysis ; Cox Regression
