Cómo Ser Transformado Espiritualmente
How to be Spiritually Transformed
Parte del proceso de ser cristiano es la obediencia al evangelio
de Jesucristo por medio del bautismo (Marcos 16:16, Hechos 2:38,
Romanos 6:3-4, Gálatas 3:27, 1 Pedro 3:21). Para ser salvo es
esencial que cada persona tome la decisión de ser bautizado por el
perdón de los pecados, y esto es parte del proceso para ser
transformado espiritualmente. A través del bautismo uno es “librado
de la potestad de las tinieblas, y trasladado al reino de su amado hijo
(Jesús)” (Colosenses 1:13), que es parte del proceso, pero hay más. A
veces uno quiere aceptar de Dios el perdón de los pecados, pero no
quiere vivir en una manera como si fuera realmente transformado por
la sangre de Jesús. Esta no debería ser así, porque la vida cristiana es
una vida completamente transformada según la palabra de Dios.
¿Cómo se puede ser transformado espiritualmente?
Muchas veces una persona piensa, “tengo que cambiar mis
hábitos o mis acciones.” Aunque el cambio de los hábitos y las
acciones es esencial en la vida cristiana, hay algo más importante.
Pablo escribió, “No conforméis a este siglo, sin transformaos por
medio de la renovación de vuestro entendimiento…” (Romanos 12:2).
Fijase que Pablo no solamente demandó acciones diferentes y nuevas,
sino que él regresó al lugar esencial para tener una transformación
verdadera de su vida. Es verdad que Dios quiere que tengamos nuevas
y diferentes acciones después de ser bautizados, pero él quiere que
tengamos una vida diferente que sea motivada por el entendimiento, o
la renovación de la mente y del corazón. En verdad, sin la renovación
del entendimiento no puede tener una transformación verdadera.
La renovación del entendimiento no ocurre solamente por
accidente, sino por el deseo de tener una buena relación con Dios y
seguir la voluntad de Dios (Mateo 6:33, Colosenses 3:2). Entonces la
semilla de la palabra de Dios va a dar el fruto de la renovación del
entendimiento, que puede transformar la mente, el corazón y la vida.
Es bueno cambiar los hábitos y las acciones, pero esto es hecho por
medio de la transformación del entendimiento que es basado en la
palabra de Dios. “Así que, hermanos, os ruego por las misericordias
de Dios, que presentéis vuestros cuerpos en sacrificio vivo, santo,
agradable a Dios…” (Romanos 12:1). Podemos hacer eso por tener la

Part of the process of being a Christian is the obedience of the
gospel of Jesus Christ by being baptized (Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38,
Romans 6:3-4, Galatians 3:27, 1 Peter 3:21). In order to be saved it is
essential that every person make the decision to be baptized for the
forgiveness of sins, and that is part of the process of being transformed
spiritually. Through baptism one is “delivered…from the power of
darkness, and has been translated into the kingdom of his dear Son
(Jesus) (Colossians 1:13), that is part of the process, but there is more.
Sometimes one wants to accept forgiveness of sins from God, but does
not want to live in the way into which he was transformed by the blood
of Jesus. This should not be because the Christian life is a life
completely transformed according to the word of God. How can one
be transformed spiritually?
Many times a person thinks, “I have to change my habits o my
actions.” Although the change of habits and actions is essential in the
life of a Christian, there is something more important. Paul wrote,
“And be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the
renewing of your mind…” (Romans 12:2). Notice that Paul not only
demanded different and new actions from the Christian, but he also
went directly to the target of how there can be true transformation in
the Christian life. It is true that God wants us to have new and different
actions after being baptized, but He wants us to have a different life is
motivated by our understanding, or the renovation of the mind and
heart. The truth is that without the renovation of the understanding
there can be no true transformation.
The renovation of understanding does not occur only by
chance, but by the desire to have a good relationship with God and to
follow the will of God (Matthew 6:33, Colossians 3:2). It is the seed
of the word of God that will give the fruit of the renovation of
understanding that can transform the mind, the heart and the life. It is
good and essential to change the habits and actions, but this must be
done by the transformation of the understanding that is based in the
word of God. “I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God
that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto
God…” (Romans 12:1). We can do that by having the transformation
or renovation of understanding.
