Electromagnetic Field Task Force Team (EMFTT)
1. History of Origin:
(1) On September 29, 2006, the “Health Risk Group” of the National Council for
Sustainable Development (NCSD) of the Executive Yuan reached the
conclusion to form an inter-departmental task force to handle the EMF health
risk problems at the 14th Inter-Departmental Task Group Meeting.
(2) On November 20, 2006, the DOH gave a presentation on the
“Inter-Departmental Management Mechanism for EMF Health Risks” at the
20th council meeting held by NCSD.
(3) On March 13, 2007, the “Health Risk Group” of NCSD had the 4th Health Risk
Policy Evaluation Meeting and the 1st meeting for the “Electromagnetic Field
Task Force Team (EMFTT)” together, in order to form an inter-departmental
task force. Professor Chang-Chuan Chan was the chairman, and the members
came from NCSD, Executive Yuan (scholars and professionals, NGOs), NCC,
MOEA, Ministry of Education, EPA, DOH, CLA, MOI, Taiwan Power
Company, and Taiwan Telecommunication Industry Development
Association(TTIDA).
(4) On May 24, Aug.7 2007, April 9 2008 EMFTT had 2nd, 3rd and 4th meeting.

3. Important tasks at the current stage:
(1) The Environmental Protection Administration is planning a working draft to
assess the environmental EMF exposure in Taiwan.
(2) The Environmental Protection Administration will investigate and propose the
mechanism for environmental EMF precautionary principles, so as to establish
suggested limits for a better quality environment in specified areas.
(3) The Department of Health has compiled a health education booklet
“Introduction of EMF” to promote the communication of EMF. The booklet is
placed on the website of the Bureau of Health Promotion for downloads. The
latest international research results and the relevant recommendations
including WHO websites will be continuously collected to update the
information.
(4) The DOH is responsible for the secretarial work of inter-departmental project
on EMF health education.
