Grade Level Expectation: Standard 4- Fourth Grade
Concepts and skills students master:
1. Earth is part of the solar system, which includes the Sun, Moon, and other bodies that orbit
the Sun in predictable patterns that lead to observable paths of objects in the sky as seen from
Earth

Big ideas:
How does Earth compare to other objects orbiting the Sun?
Compare Earth with other planets: Distance/position with the Sun, size compared to
Earth, type of planets (rocky / gaz), atmosphere (ex: no atmosphere/gas atmosphere), temp.
(very hot and very cold)
**Not necessary to learn numbers (distance, temp.)**
Asteroid Belt separates the planets (rocky and the gas planets)
