Prerequisite Requirements












Calculus – one course with a minimum of 3 semester units or 4 quarter units
Statistics – one course with a minimum of 3 semester units or 4 quarter units
General Chemistry with appropriate laboratories – a minimum of two semester courses or three quarter
courses for a total of at least 8 semester units or 12 quarter units
Organic Chemistry – a minimum of one course for a total of at least 3 semester units or 4 quarter units.
No lab is required.
Biochemistry – one course with a minimum of 3 semester units or 4 quarter units. No lab is required.
General Physics with appropriate laboratories – a minimum of two semester courses or three quarter
courses for a total of at least 8 semester units or 12 quarter units.
General Biology or Zoology (no lab required) – a minimum of two semester courses or three quarter
courses for a total of at least 6 semester units or 9 quarter units
General Microbiology/Bacteriology with laboratory – one course with a minimum of 3 semester units or
4 quarter units
Human Anatomy (no lab required) – one course with a minimum of 3 semester units or 4 quarter units
Human Physiology(no lab required) – one course with a minimum of 3 semester units or 4 quarter units
General Psychology – one course with a minimum of 3 semester units or 4 quarter units
English Composition/Literature – two courses for a total of 6 semester units or 8 quarter units
General Information:

Any psychology course offered by the Psychology Department is acceptable to meet the requirement.

Human Anatomy and Physiology (A&P) prerequisite requirement:
o A&P may be completed as A&P I and A&P II or as individual courses (human anatomy and
human physiology) for a minimum total of 6 semester units or 8 quarter units.
o Animal or vertebrate physiology may be substituted for human physiology; however, there is no
such substitute for human anatomy.

Though we prefer you take a course in English composition, any course offered by the English Department
or writing intensive course (classified as “WI” on a transcript) will meet the pre-requisite requirement.

Advanced Placement (AP) courses for the prerequisites will be accepted as long as the appropriate
number of credit hours was received. These courses must appear on your official college transcript or in a
letter from the registrar stating that the appropriate number of credit hours was verified.

Online course policy:
o Lecture courses may be completed in the online format from a regionally accredited institution
o Lab courses may not be completed online
