Overview
The Francis Crick Institute is a unique partnership
between six of the most successful scientific
institutions which includes the Medical Research
Council, Cancer Research UK, the Wellcome Trust,
UCL, Imperial College London and King’s College
London. Established as a charity, it’ll be a worldclass research centre and one of the most significant
developments in UK biomedical science.
Solution
Dortek supplied non fire rated and fire rated single
action doors, sliding doors & hermetically sealing
sliding doors. Our seamless doors are ultra hygienic,
void free and easy to clean. Our hermetic doors are
designed to offer an airtight seal to prevent dirty air
entering cleanrooms and to reduce expensive air
handling costs.
Pharma Research Projects: The South Australian Health &
Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI), Australia
Overview
The new health and medical research facility is
located on North Terrace next to the new Royal
Adelaide Hospital site (NRAH) in Adelaide's west end.
The world class medical research facility is a modern
and striking new iconic building housing up to 675
researchers encouraging innovation and
improvement in health services which should benefit
the whole community.
Solution
Dortek supplied non fire rated and fire rated single
action doors and sliding doors. Our cleanroom doors
are completely flush and made with hygienic, non
organic materials. Dortek fire doors have a unique
intumescent strip, which is concealed underneath
the skin of the door to maintain a seamless profile.
Pharma Research Projects: Cancer Research, UK
Overview
Cancer research funds over half of the UK’s cancer
research including the work of over 4000 scientists,
doctors and nurses fighting cancer. Research
activities are carried out in institutes, universities
and hospitals across the UK, both by the charity's
own employees and by its grant-funded researchers.
Solution
Dortek supplied GRP doors for the laboratories
complete with DT swing door automations. Vision
panels with blinds were integrated for privacy and
doors were specially designed to help the provision
of an air cascade system. Dortek GRP doors are
extremely smooth, durable and easy to clean making
them ideal for research and life science facilities.
Pharma Research Projects: Life Sciences Park, Malta
Overview
The Government of Malta is funding a state-of-theart life sciences centre, named the Bio Malta
campus, in San Gwann. The centre is being
developed to foster the growth of the country's life
sciences industry and is expected to create more
than 500 jobs by 2019. The campus will include
world class facilities such as laboratories, offices,
lecture theatres, meeting rooms and a number of
perfectly equipped shared facilities.
Solution
Dortek supplied hygienic non fire rated and fire
rated doors across the campuses research
laboratories. Our seamless doors are ultra clean,
non porous and do not harbour bacteria, making
them ideal for life science facilities.
Pharma Research Projects: Genzyme, US

Solution
Dortek supplied swing doors into a cleanroom
panelling system. Working with the project
architects, our technical sales team helped to
develop the specification for this project. Biotech
cleanrooms require the highest level of hygiene,
Dortek’s seamless, void free GRP doors are
ideally suited to this facility and industry.
Pharma Research Projects: Institut Pasteur, France

foundation dedicated to the study of biology,
micro-organisms, diseases, and vaccines. For over
a century, the Institut Pasteur has been at the
forefront of the battle against infectious diseases.
This worldwide research organisation based in
Paris was the first to isolate HIV and has since
been responsible for numerous breakthrough
discoveries against diseases such as diphtheria,
tetanus, influenza & yellow fever.
Solution
Dortek supplied non fire rated and fire rated
single action doors across research and laboratory
areas. Our GRP doors will not swell, rot, warp or
harbour bacteria. This makes them ideal for
controlled clean room environments.
