RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Ph.D. Dissertation
Carried the enzymatic characterization of the recombinant UDP-GlcNAc pyrophosphorylase in
intestinal parasite Giardia intestinalis.
Developed a capillary electrophoretic methodology for the separation, detection and
quantification of sugar phosphate intermediates of the encystment pathway of Giardia intestinalis.
Summer Internship
OraVax Inc (currently Acambis), Cambridge MA (2000)
Advisor: Dr. Thomas Ermak
Investigated the roles of cell and antibody-mediated immunity in protection against
Helicobacter pylori infection in mice immunized with recombinant Helicobacter pylori urease vaccine.
M.S. Thesis
Using gene replacements, determined the possible function(s) of the several genes in
morphological development and antibiotic production in Streptomyces coelicolor and Streptomyces
lividans.
