SCHOOL DISTRICT OF ABBOTSFORD EARLY GRADUATION 345.61 Early graduation from Abbotsford High School may be permitted in accordance with approved district procedures and with the approval of the Board of Education. Each case will be reviewed by the administration. Early graduations are defined as: 1. Mid-term (January) - The student graduates one semester early. 2. Sophomore entering - Junior Year The student graduates one year early. The Abbotsford Board of Education has the final authority for deciding whether or not the student shall graduate from high school early. The Board shall receive the recommendation from the administration and decide each request by a vote at a regular board meeting. When making early graduation decisions the Board shall review recommendations from the District Administrator, student’s parent(s)/guardian, or other appropriate staff members. Students requesting early graduation must have fulfilled all graduation requirements. Student Requirements: A. Must have a “C” or 2.0 Grade Point Average. B. Must satisfy all credit requirements. C. Early Graduation Application Form must be submitted by the June 1 deadline. 2. Pre-Graduation Conference Requirement The student must attend a conference with his/her parents, the principal, guidance counselor where the following are required 3. Application Deadlines: Must be at least one semester before the planned early graduation. A. Mid-term (January) Graduation: Completed application including all no later than June 1. required documentation received by the District Administrator. B. 4. Sophomore Entering Junior Year: no later than June 1. Completed application including all required documentation received by the District Administrator Semester Attendance: Must complete a minimum of six semesters of high school work. Exceptions to this requirement may be made in unusual circumstances as approved by the Board of Education at a regular meeting. No diplomas or commencement activities are available in January.
